Kaito comes from the mangas Magic Kaito and Detective Conan. He will be as up to date as possible and will use primarily manga details with reasonable headcanon to accent what we haven't been shown.

wasonceahiro 's AUIntrigued by the lure of Japan in America, Kaito used some well earned vacation time, told everyone he was going to travel abroad with his mom, and took off for San Fransokyo. After meeting another young man who, like himself, had his own share of secrets, Kaito decided to extend his stay and shift his base of operations to the Western hemisphere. After all, KID is an international thief.

Who would have thought that Pandora was hidden inside a fake gem? Who would have thought the jewel had been handed down Akako's family for generations? Who would have thought she would have accidentally thrown it away, or that it would have been picked up again? Not Kaito. It wasn't until the sniper's bullet hit the jewel while he was stealing what he thought was a harmless heirloom back for a friend that KID realized his mistake. The gem turned red under the moon, and now there were shards next to his heart; the broken magic causing him to age at a rate much faster than humanly possible. If he can't find a way to either fix the jewel or fix himself he might just end up dying of old age.
Kaito in this AU currently looks early twenties and has been stabilized by Haibara in return for some of his blood. High stress situations, however, still trigger the magic's effects and he's only got a limited amount of time to find the rest of the jewel.

Realizing Sherry was not, in fact, dead, the BO turn their focus on KID. They sabotage a Suzuki heist with a bomb to take out not only Kid, but Conan as well, blaming the entire incident on Kid's mistake, and killing several innocent officers and onlookers. Warned just before it was too late by Conan, Kid managed to save the boy and Nakamori-keibu from certain death, though it cost him his identity to do it. With the BO thinking they were dead, Kaito and Conan have to change their identities and go on the run for real, lest the BO return to kill everyone they've ever loved.
